Company policy dictates that the choice must come from the employee’s manager. The supervisor could possibly be new and don’t have any idea of this person’s standing as a valued client.
A correctly written policy and/or process permits workers to understand their roles and degree of responsibility and run their own job by making decisions within predefined boundaries.
